T. M. DESCHAMPS

Young Adult Author

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY

Theresa M. Deschamps, born in New Liskeard, Ontario, Canada now resides in North Bay, Ontario with her husband Rick.  They have 4 children, 10 grandchildren, grandson born July 15, 2006.

Theresa graduated from The Institute of Children's Literature in West Redding, Connecticut, in 2002.  She completed a story and article course, Writing for Children & Teenagers, in 2000 when she was recommended for the advanced book writing course.  At which time Theresa started her second writing course, Writing and Selling Children's Books.  While revising 'The Puppet Triangle' and submitting to publishers, education continued with another correspondent course.  From February to July 2002 Theresa worked hard to complete and receive a diploma in 'Therapeutic Counselling'.

The Puppet Triangle is a first book for Theresa and was a major accomplishment while coping with a chronic illness, Fibromyalgia Syndrome.  Writing has provided a positive future and a second young adult book in progress.  Her chronic illness comes alive through an athletic 15 year-old girl in her next book.  She plans to write a sequel to The Puppet Triangle and research has already began.

Theresa has always enjoyed writing short stories during childhood and many poems are among her works.  She releases personal experiences from childhood, first marriage, and raising 3 children alone through her poetry.  Some of her poetry was published from 1998 to 2000.

Writing is very therapeutic, relaxing, and a great stress reliever, which helps Theresa cope with her illness.  A major reason for the direction of her work is to help give guidance and direction to young adults in making wise decisions concerning difficult situations faced in every day life.  Pre-teens and young teenagers are dealt overwhelming problems on a daily basis and most of them make unwise choices because they have nowhere to go for advice or have nobody that will listen to their problems.

Theresa's writing goals are: 1) to help at least "ONE" adolescent take a positive direction in their life to live a safe and fulfilling future.

2) Stand up for personal beliefs by teaching others through life experiences in my own life, raising children as a single parent, having a part in the lives of so many youngsters raised by single families and had nobody to turn to for advice, and teenagers never having a chance to voice their concerns freely to someone whom they were comfortable enough in sharing their thoughts.
